Working From Home Stuffing Envelopes

by Tom on January 17, 2009

Working from home stuffing envelopes is often referred to as a scam because there are companies who claim to have a special system that makes it possible to earn huge amounts of money quickly for very little work, or no work at all.

Working from home stuffing envelopes can also be a legitimate home business opportunity if you start your own direct mail business. This will take some time and effort but can be worth the struggle in the beginning. Here is what you need to do in order to start your own legitimate envelope stuffing business.

Step 1:
When you are starting up your envelope stuffing business you need to find clients and make bids on projects. To be able to do this you will need to develop a base price list that is in two parts. One price list is for clients who need you to provide the supplies, and the other one is for clients who provide the supplies for the project.Remember to include discounts in the price lists for large orders.

Step 2:
Now when your price lists are ready you need to make fliers with your prices to pass out to local businesses. It is very important to do this professionally. If you deliver your fliers in person you will need a sales pitch and a business attire, and if you choose to send the flier by mail, you will need to print professional address labels and use basic stamps.

Step 3:
Your next obstacle is to find a business that needs your service. The easiest way to do this is to find local companies that do not have a direct mail campaign, best options are small locally owned businesses.Find out the name of the manager and call that person to get an appointment to discuss your service.Try to schedule the appointment at least 2 or 3 days later so you will have some time to prepare for the meeting.

Step 4:
You need to make a customized sales pitch for the company where you have scheduled an appointment. Learn all you can about the company, the company´s website on the internet is the best place to do this. Then you need to prepare a sample flier that highlights the company, you need to tell the business representative exactly how you can help the company to make money.

Step 5:
Prepare a basic contract. The contract should include at least the following things: A basic description of the project, the price, the deadline, payment method and due date, the clients name and your name. You can print out a contract that has blank spaces for this information.

Step 6:
Build trust with the client. When you have secured a project, try to have it completed early. When you first start your business, you should stuff and address all the envelopes and deliver them to the client. This shows the client that you are trustworthy. When you deliver them to the client, be prepared for them to ask you to mail them.

As your envelope stuffing business grows and you get more clients and possibly bigger projects, make sure that you can meet all deadlines as promised.Sometimes you may have to sub-contract some of your work in order to get everything done as promised.Your reputation is on the line, make sure that the people you use to complete projects produce quality work and are honest. This will ensure that your envelope stuffing home business has the possibility to grow and become successful.
