Work At Home Challenges

by Tom on February 11, 2009

If you want to start out and earn [Tag-Tec]working from home[/Tag-Tec],the old adage that you should look before you leap, makes sense. Actually, a lot of sense. The Internet has opened up a big loophole for cons of all types to thrive, partly due to the anonymity with the technology at use.You cannot tell someone truly is who she or he says they are, because you probably have no way of proving it.Therein lies the problem. How do you tell a fake from genuine?

A simple common-sense rule is always handy in some cases: if the deal seems so good to be true, most likely it is just that – too good to be true. Therefore, make sure you are careful. Ask yourself who on earth can pay you $4000 a day for doing what seems like grade-school work advertised and placed on websites in adult language. Furthermore, why should you pay an employer to be eligible to work for them? It beats logic, doesn’t it?

Some challenges have no relation to scams, but with the home office itself. How do you, for example, deal with a relative or needy child who thinks that you are there for them just because you are at home? In addition, what about organizing your time and slotting in the household chores in your overall schedule? These two are real challenges because they might mean you are being distracted from your work, yet they are essential elements of your life.

Sometimes you are at work in the home office and suddenly your computer or your Internet connection fails. Perhaps at the same time, you really had some urgent work to go to a client. This may lead to a mental strain and stress when you have to stare helplessly at a machine or some gadget whose repair you are not qualified to handle.

Another common challenge comes in over-working yourself. Most home-workers give too much of their energy and time to work, sometimes isolating themselves socially. There is simply too much urge to do more and consequently, earn more.

There may also be a problem when it comes to setting boundaries. Just what is the boundary between ‘home’ and ‘work’? When can you say you are at home tending to your child(ren) or at work? The problem is when you work at home, many things are bound to happen around you. Like a child crying for your attention. You surely cannot tell them, ‘get off! I’m busy’.

Furthermore, talking of children, childcare has been shown to be one major challenge for those working at home. For some reason, most mothers (and increasingly, fathers) who say they want to give their children more time, work when these children are asleep. However, wait until you have a huge project and the child refuses to sleep. What to do?

Working at home can be fun, yet immensely challenging. The best anyone can do is to learn to expect these challenges and devise ways to surmount them when they rear their heads. You will be lucky you did expect it next time a problem arises during your home ‘office hours’.

Thank you kindly for referencing my article on whether you should work from home or not!

You mention a lot of important things here to consider. It’s not easy working from home, but it is certainly possible if you have a good realistic plan and if you are disciplined.

Thanks again!

I started out in this business thinking I will make extra money and can work anytime i want. The working any time I want is correct but I still dont have extra time for my kids. As I make more and more money I find myself more and more addicted. Once you start seeing your affiliate account numbers get bigger and bigger each month. You become more and more enthusiasic. Your income goal shifts and you aim for more money. It’s like being on crack. Becareful what you wish for…

A big problem is to get in the habit of understanding that home is for work as well as rest. Normally at home you just relax but working from home changes all of this dynamic.

Agree with you but if you love what you are doing and earning enough, then it doesn’t really matter much on where we work.
