Work at home business scams are quite common. This is unfortunate because millions of people really want to earn a nice income from their home with minimum work. There are thousands of legitimate companies offering real work at home jobs but there are scams also, and you need to know how to recognize them.
Work at home business scams take many forms and shapes. Most of the scam companies do not tell how many hours you need to work in order to get paid and they do not guarantee regular payment checks.
In some cases they require you to spend your own money on training, pay for start up kits, equipment and working clothes before getting the job. Therefore work at home business scams become really expensive for the victims and they will often cost thousands of dollars and a lot of wasted time.
Here are some good tips to avoid work at home business scams:
1.Avoid giving personal information to a unknown company or person.Only provide personal information if you are 100% sure the company is legitimate.
2.If you live in The United States or Canada, check if the company is listed with Better Business Bureau (http://www.bbb.org).If it is, you can be sure the company is legitimate.
3.Beware of “Getting-Rich-Quick” companies. This is a internet myth. There is no easy way to wealth on the internet. In fact, 95% of people trying to earn money online fail.It is very hard to make money on the internet.
4.Reshipping fraud is a common work at home business scam. The scam is to repack and mail the merchandise to a foreign address. Often the merchandise is paid for with stolen credit cards. They would be promised a large sum of money, but become a part of receiving and mailing stolen goods.
The unknowing home business worker receives and repackages with their own funds and is told that it will be repaid at pay day via a cashier´s check.
Eventually, the cashier’s check bounces and the home business worker has to pay their bank the amount of the whole check.
If you want to select a legitimate work at home job, then do not accept any job offer that promises to provide high income for a part time job.Legitimate companies do not charge anything to hire you. If you are not sure about the legitimacy of a company, then ask for references. If the company is not providing you references, stay away!
