Why Is A Blog Better Than A Normal Web Site?

by Tom on August 30, 2008

For some time it has been known that having a normal web site was the way to succeed on the internet. It opens the door for numerous possibilities and options that entrepreneurs can take advantage of.But of late, it has been found that having a blog can do drastic measures for internet marketers.

Many are beginning to question whether it is better to have a blog than an actual web site. There are certainly the perks of having a blog over a web site, but it strictly depends on the person doing the marketing.

Having a web site is extremely time consuming to build from ground up.There is a lot of work that goes into building one and a lot of maintenance that must be done. You must constantly be adding new content, new graphics, and sticking with the internet and its evolution.

At the same time, the sky is the limit for what you can do with a normal web site. You can promote your own products, someone else’s products, various programs, and even get paid for people clicking on ads. There are great opportunities that come from having your own web site.

The great thing about having a blog, though, is that it allows you to open up and show your true personality. It is difficult showing people who you are with a web site because you cannot talk to them conversationally except maybe through e-mail.With a blog, you can present arguments or topics and see where people take them.In addition, you can add your insights and further the conversation.

A blog does not limit you to just talking conversationally to people either. You can sell products of your own, promote affiliate programs and promote other programs as well. But the benefit of using a blog is you get to build that relationship with prospects before pressuring them to purchase anything. It is far easier to turn a prospect into a customer if you have gained their trust and respect.

While many are beginning to believe that having a blog is better than a normal web site, the real solution is to create both.If you would like to start one first and go from there, go ahead and start a blog.Although it is time consuming and a lot of work, the best way to have success and separate yourself from the competition is to have the two go hand-in-hand together.

The main reason why a blog is better than a normal website is because it generates far more free traffic from the search engines. It also provides as easy way for you to add an unlimited amount of individual pages to your website that will all have the potential of achieving good rankings in the search engine results pages. We blog on a number of our sites – our main chat site even has a blog but also we decided to set up blogs for our charity website. Its an easy and quick way to keep our users upto date with our news – you know they want to read it when they subscribe unlike a regular mailing list.

I consider a site without a blog attached to it as almost lifeless. Come on! Where is “interactivity”?

I manage about 10 websites and 10 blogs. My experience is that if you have blog you must post regularly. If not, then it is better to have normal site. Blogs suppose to be more dynamic and interactive so Google likes it more than normal site. But if you don’t have updates on your blog minimum ones a week, then Google will consider your blog as not good one.

I enjoy blogs because you can voice your opinion more easily. A blog is far easier to update than a website. It helps keep information up-to-date and more informative.
