At eBay, having quality customer service is great for your business. When you sell something on eBay and the buyer gets excellent customer service from you, they will do one of two things, sometimes both.
-They will give you great feedback.
-They will often look for more of your auctions in the future and buy from you again.
You have to see eBay as your business instead of just an online auction if you are hoping to make a living from it.If you owned a bookstore in the “off-line world” how would you treat your customers while they were standing at your counter waiting to get service? You would be helpful and respectful of course.Your customers are the ones who pay your bills and you would do everything you can to guarantee that the customers would return in the future as well to buy books from you.You would bend over backwards to make sure that their buying experience with you was both satisfactory and enjoyable. Why would you do any less at the close of one of your eBay auctions?
Tips for quality customer service at eBay:
When your eBay auction closes, act quickly by contacting the winner by email and congratulate them. Describe the item they have won and how it will be shipped to the winner (even if this information is all ready part of the description for the auction).Give them payment options and remind them of their winning bid amount. In closing, thank them for participating in your auction and take this opportunity to tell them about other open auctions you might have as well.
Once payment and shipping details have been taken care off, you must contact your buyer again to let them know when the item was shipped with the exact time and date, and when it is expected to arrive. You should also let them know that if they have any questions they should contact you through your eBay site, or reply to this email you have just sent them.If they do contact you in the future, make sure that you answer promptly, and that you do all that you can to make them happy with their purchase.
You must also be open to issue a refund (depending on what the item is) promptly to the buyer if this is what it takes to keep the customer happy.it is reasonable to expect that the buyer returns the item to you at your expense before the refund is issued, but once you receive the item, issue the refund promptly. This is good business and quality customer service.
