4 Steps To Social Bookmarking

January 12, 2008 by Tom Lindstrom · 3 Comments

Social bookmarking, Web2.0 techniques and tactics are extremely popular as people are searching for information on the internet. Everyone who submit content to social bookmarking services, article directories and other sites, makes comments, votes and links to content which can be good or bad, are using Web2.0.

With social bookmarking you can store web addresses important to you, and let other people with similar interests view them as well, this will have a huge impact on your business. So, submit your website to a social bookmarking site and target the audience. It is also very important to visit other peoples links and vote for them.

Your activity in these sites is measured all the time.If you only submit your own content, you will quickly be seen as a person who abuses the system and might get banned. You need to interact with other people and build your contact network. The people who you make friends with on the social sites are the ones that should bookmark and vote for your content.

Here below are 4 steps to social bookmarking.Follow these steps and see how the traffic will increase to your website over a short period of time.

1. Do a search to find bookmarks related to yours on the social sites.

2. When you write a new blog post or article, submit the URL to social bookmarking sites. Also submit other peoples content to the social sites to avoid your account looking like a spam account.Remember to tag your post properly.

3. You must keep your website/blog updated with fresh content weekly.Avoid duplicate content, write your own articles if possible. When people find excellent content on your site, they will visit you over and over again. Relevant, unique and interesting content is one of the most important things.

4. You need to market your site regularly, I prefer on a daily basis. It does not have to be for many hours per day, just do something.Make a post in a forum or make some new friends at the social sites. My advice is to join the biggest sites first, read the FAQ-section of how to use the site and then get involved, participate!

There is a lot of information about Web2.0, social bookmarking and linking techniques on the internet. It is wise to learn from people who are doing it successfully and then use the strategies to increase your website ranking and traffic.

Alternative Ways To Build Links To Your Website

December 19, 2007 by Tom Lindstrom · 11 Comments

Articles are important when it comes to building links to your website, but there are other methods you should also use because it is not wise to rely on only one way to build links and it is important that your website looks good in the eyes of the search engines. In this article I will show a few alternative methods to build links to your website that are almost as effective as writing and submitting articles.

Social Bookmarking:
This is a quite new strategy and one of the best ways to build links to your website.I wrote an article about social bookmarking some time ago.I recommend reading the article for more information about this strategy.

PPC: (Pay Per Click)
You can also buy targeted traffic to your website to increase your sales and brand exposure. Regardless of the place where people find your website, chances are that people will link to you. Pay Per Click works like this: You subscribe to a PPC program and when this is completed your link will appear at a specific time and place.

You need to pay the advertiser a pre-set amount when someone clicks on your link and goes to your site. These amounts are normally only a few cents.

Link Trading:
Reciprocal links are not as effective as they used to be, but this method works when it is done correctly and small scale.Find a relevant link partner that will send you traffic.Do not use FFA sites, link farming or paid services that claim to submit your link to 10,000 places.

Build A Squidoo Lens:
Building a Squidoo lens takes only about 20 minutes and is free.Add links to your website and you can also add your RSS feed.I recommend taking the time to build a good and informative lens. I built a Squidoo lens about my blog.Update the information on your Squidoo lens regularly. The search engines prefer fresh content and are known to index Squidoo lenses quickly.

Hubpages is another service similar to Squidoo where you build a mini-site with information of a specific topic.Hubpages is a great tool in building links back to your website and create a strong web presence.

Forum Signatures:
Sign up for online forums that are in the same niche that you are.Contribute to the discussions and add a link back to your website in the signature file.Do not spam the forums, post only when you have something to say.

Commenting On Other Blogs:
Start commenting on other peoples blogs that are relevant to your blog.A great way to build links back to your website and build a relationship with other bloggers.Be careful no to spam, comment only when you have something to say.Look for blogs that have the no follow tag removed. This will give you a link back to your site.

Commenting on all related blogs is always a good idea, even if the “no follow” is not removed. If you post relevant comments people will visit your site anyway to learn more about you and what you have to say.
