Social Media Spring Cleaning Tips

by Tom on March 10, 2010

Spring is soon here and as usual there is some spring cleaning to do, but this time social media spring cleaning. When have you updated / edited / removed / added something to your social media profiles?

I have been a member of many social media sites for a few years, but I only visit a few of these sites regularly. The profiles on the sites I regularly visit are always updated with the correct URL, RSS feed and the profile is otherwisefully completed. Now I am going to visit all the other sites and either update the profiles or delete my membership because there is only so much time in a day to participate and being active in social media.

When I do spring cleaning on all my social media profiles I will choose a few core sites that I will work on from now on to build up my authority, the rest I will skip. Choosing the core sites has to be done by looking at how popular the social media site is, what it´s PR is, how easy it is to update and so on.Social media is so important these days that one cannot skip it all together.

(The best way to learn about social media marketing is to download the FREE Authority Black Book.)

When have you updated your social media profiles? Leave a comment.

This is a great idea. I think a lot of internet marketers can apply this to there multiple social media profiles.

Good advice. One thing I started doing right away is keeping all of my logins and email addresses in a spreadsheet so that I can keep track of things. That way, not only is spring clean up an easier task, I can go back to tweak things along the way… when I have a few seconds to breath. You’ve got a killer blog here. Thanks for all the tips and all the effort you put in.

the spreadsheet idea is really cool. that’s what i do too. i also make sure to upload my long unused files to online storage or make a hard copy of it just to clear some space. =]
