Quite a few companies today know that having a blog can be a great benefit for their business, but they don’t know the first thing about blogging.
Instead of taking the time to learn what they should write about and how to leverage the blog for business, they just start adding their advertising message to every post.
This is not the way to start building a following of loyal blog readers!
While it is fine to write about your business, services, and products, you need to offer more. Blogging the right way can make a huge difference for your business. Let the following blog tips help you when you are preparing your blogs.
Educate and Entertain Your Readers
While you don’t have to write a comedy blog filled with pictures of cats, you do have to be able to entertain and hold a reader’s interest. This is important for any of the posts that you write. If you don’t have something to say that’s important or interesting, then you may want to wait until you have a better idea for a post. You do not want your readers to grow bored with your offerings.
You should also consider having the occasional post that highlights one of your services and goes into detail about what you can offer as a company. Let people know more about the details of your products or services that they aren’t able to find on your regular site. You might even want to include a coupon code or a promotion in these types of posts. It ensures that people get something when they read your post, and everyone likes to save. This could entice more people to try your products.
Keep Your Brand the Same
If you have a website, a blog, and social networking sites, then you want to make sure that you can get them to look similar. With the variety of WordPress Themes available and the customization that one can do with them, this should not prove to be too difficult. When your blog looks similar to your website, you are spreading brand awareness. You can even do this by changing the background of some social networking sites, such as Twitter.
Optimize the Content
Businesses and individuals who have blogs need to optimize their content. This is more important now than ever with the changes to search engine algorithms. You will want to use your keywords and search terms in the content that you write, but you want to make sure that you do not overdo it. The reason that so many changes came to the algorithms over the past few years is that people were taking advantage and stuffing keywords. This is something that will get sites demoted on the rankings today.
Rather than focusing solely on keyword usage, consider the quality of the content. You will also want to make sure that the off page SEO you use to get your blog more traffic is high quality as well. Since many companies simply do not have the time to write all of the content, hiring other writers to work on the on and off page content can be very beneficial and cost effective for any business blog today.
Engage Your Readers
You have readers who come to your blog for information. When you provide that information, those readers are likely to have comments or questions. Make sure you have a comments section on your blogs, and do not let the readers feel as though they are talking to no one when they post in the comments. Instead, engage and speak with the customers. They will realize that you really do care about their needs and concerns, and it is a great way to build loyalty.
Of course, some of the comments might not be flattering. The Internet is full of people who make rude comments on blogs. Try not to take these personally, but if there is a legitimate complaint, make sure that your company does something about it. A company that actually listens to complaints and tries to remedy them will have a place in the heart of any customer.
Blog with a Schedule
You should have a schedule of when you are going to post to your blog. It could be once or twice a week, but you should keep to the schedule. This is important for small businesses that need to show that they are reliable. When you set up your schedule, you should have a list of topics about which you want to write as well. This will make it easier for you to know what’s coming up in your schedule and what you will have to write.
Something that you might want to consider is doing a series occasionally rather than a single post. When you have a series based on the same subject, you will find that you have many more return readers eager to read the next installment.

A business blog is meant to educate its client or customer about the business and help him reach out to the enterpreneur. hence, I agree to all the points you have mentioned in your post. It will help to make a good and effecient business blog that runs for aiding the readers in various ways.
All great tips. It is hard work, but if you do it right, you will see your business pay off!
A business blog should be updated at regular intervals with good content so that the readers do not lose interest in the blog. If the blog keeps the site up to date, traffic can be generated easily and on a faster pace. Optimising the content is also a major part of possessing a business blog for good benefits.
A blog needs to be maintained very smartly and effectively. A blogger should know how to keep the visitors engaged with the help of the content, the way it is presented and use strategies that will convince a reader to visit back to the blog. Smart blogging can be done easily if a blogger interacts with his readers regularly.
Right on. These are awesome tips.
What I’ve been struggling with, for a very long time now, is having a blogging schedule. I know that time management is crucial but the client work I have makes it hard for me to focus on my own blog, which, I realize, is more important because it will help me get more business in the future.
Thanks for pointing it out.
