Almost everyone with an online marketing strategy these days is going to use social media in some capacity. You’re going to have a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and a LinkedIn presence. Your business may even have ventured onto Google+ or various online forums. Certainly, there are plenty of social media options out there, and the ease and accessibility of such options make them exceedingly appealing for online marketers.
But there’s a difference between having a presence in social media and maximizing that presence. How can a business or marketer accomplish this? Simply put, a maximized social media presence is one that (a) reaches the broadest number of internet users and (b) works to establish strong ties between a business and its more loyal customers. A proper maximization strategy will effectively target both of these objectives.
If you have a social media presence but are looking to make it stronger, here are a few tips you may want to keep in mind:
Integrate Platforms
So your business has both a Facebook page and a Twitter feeds – that’s great. But you’re missing out on a chance for greater exposure and efficiencies if you do not integrate the two accounts with each other. Link posts from your Facebook to your Twitter, and vice versa. Use services like Twitterfeed.com to make sure that all blog posts show up on your Twitter. Ultimately, it’s not too difficult to bring about social media integration – and in terms of visibility, the end result is greater than the sum of its parts.
Initiate Email Communication
Amidst all the social media options out there today, many businesses neglect an all-important online marketing tool: email. Email is a great way to initiate and sustain communication channels between you and your consumer base. The best way to do this is by sending out regular email newsletters with interesting content. The newsletter signup should be listed on the Facebook page and mentioned in Twitter posts – and, conversely, the newsletter itself should contain links to all your social media applications.
Encourage Followers
Having consumers click on your Facebook page or read a Twitter post is always good for business exposure. But getting those consumers to “Like” you on Facebook or follow you on Twitter is even more beneficial because it makes them more aware of your updates and it helps advertise your business to their friends. For this reason, maximizing your social media strategy means working to increase the number of Likes and followers.
Hopefully these tips can help you maximize the social media pages and accounts that you already have in place. Doing so can insure only rates of exposure and visibility. In a crowded internet world where it often seems as though everyone has a social media presence, it can never hurt to make a concerted effort and strive to do better.
