Another very effective way is to promote using social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. A word of caution here though. Be sure to check there guidelines so you know your limitations. If you have an email list, send ezine emails to your contacts with your link in your signature. Be sure these are opt in or user friendly contacts! Do NOT spam. If you have a website, install an autoresponder. This way you can set up actual campaigns for each opt in and provide follow up with your visitors. If someone makes a purchase be sure to have a Thank You page intact.

I beg to differ with you on the most important aspect of affiliate marketing which is having your own list. You may still see some money through affiliate sales but it requires a huge effort. On the other hand, if you concentrate on email marketing, the conversion ratio could be better to keep you motivated till you achieve the goal.

I don’t think e-mail marketing can give you better results that affiliate marketing because users are aware of the increasing marketing tactics through mails! I agree with your idea of product review. Without making a promotional content for the product, come up with a overall view of the product. That sounds really good!
