Hi Tom,
Social media and networking have really taken off in 2009 and are set to continue their rapid growth in 2010. There are so many networks you can join as you say, I only concentrate on Twitter and FaceBook. My sales on one of my blogs has been encouraging with sales doing well, most of which i attribute to twitter. real time search is where the action is and I make use of Google through profiles and reader to extend my reach…you can even leave comments now on the search results page. More exciting additions and integrations will emerge in 2010 with Google Wave being released to the wider general public.

happy xmas…and a new year to remember

I think that the reason marketing via social media is so powerful is not just due to its effectiveness (in that you can reach people that fit within your specific demographic and psychographic), but the ease at which it is to do…

I think this accessibility is sometimes overlooked…!

Great article. I particularly like the \"10 tips…\" article and tried to post a comment there but kept getting error messages. So I will try here :) I definitely agree with all your points and think they not only represent the benefits of social media marketing, but they also point to the fact that NOT participating can be a real detriment to a business. Add to all your very valid points the fact that if company A is not participating, and their biggest competitor Company B is participating, Company A loses. Period! This is one of those times that one SHOULD do something because \"everyone else is\". Perhaps this can be considered a variation of the \"peer pressure\" theory :)

Most people start off wrong with social media by not adding enough value to the vistor which make them never return. the key is to add more content to help the user than to market your business.

I certainly agree with that previous post. Social Media Marketing is not just about adding potential clients/customers but also it is a best place for interactions. Let them feel they are important and that they matters. Just “Liking” their status in Facebook or simply Retweet their twitter posts promote interaction. Social media marketers should also take note of that.
