How can you become better at using Twitter, a better Tweeter?
The first step in becoming a better tweeter is to learn how to “re-tweet”, this will improve your standing in Twitter.You can re-tweet a great article when one of your Twitter followers posts one, most likely your followers will do the same and when your user name is added to their updates you will be seen by lots of Twitter users.Be sure to only re-tweet articles that are helpful and interesting.
How to re-tweet? Here is an example of how to re-tweet one of my Tweets. (My Twitter user name is “tlmarketing_net“.)
1.Use a label in your re-tweet, for instance “Re-tweet”
2.Add the crediting, in this case “@tlmarketing_net”
3.Add a link with a short note why the link is important and relevant.
Putting it all together:
Re-tweet: @tlmarketing_net how to use email signatures http://bit.ly/CFq9u – good information
You often see people tweet about things no one is interested about.Who really cares about what you ate for breakfast this morning?
Maybe your closest friends can appreciate that information, but what about the rest of the social community? By only sending out useful tweets, instead of garbage, people will think of you differently and know that you care.
The second step in becoming a better tweeter is to send replies often.Followers like a person who knows how to listen.Most of Twitter users want to be heard on the web and if they find individuals who know how to listen, they are more interested in making friends.
You will probably find yourself laughing at dumb tweets but you must restrain yourself. Twitter is an application that allows people to communicate; so matter how funny some tweets sound, try to appreciate them and reply courteously.
The third step in order to become a better tweeter, is to be proactive.When you find something useful and helpful, tweet it! Some people might re-tweet it or add you as a friend.
Be careful not to tweet only your own stuff, this makes other people see you as a spammer.Instead, every time you do blog commenting on other people´s blogs, first of all make an excellent comment and then tweet it.People will come to the blog from Twitter and most likely click through to your blog because you made a fantastic comment and they want to learn more about you.

Great run down here. Trying to optimise my site and deal with clients takes up lots of time and I find it hard to make time for social media like twitter.

Great post. I also recommend to my clients to use a tool like HootSuite that allows you to schedule tweets throughout the day so you are not \"clogging the stream\" and taking over someone\’s timeline. Twitter Power by Joel Comm is an excellent book for learning the ins and outs of Twitter. I highly recommend it.
I’ve just set up on Twitter for my business and I feel completely out of my depth so finding this has been a big help. I have no idea how to ‘tweet’ so that I am making the most of each post I make while still keeping it interesting in so few characters.
