Letīs say you have just started your own home based business and are in the process of setting up a website to sell products and services.Your website will need hosting and at some point you need to decide if you are going to use free web hosting or paid web hosting.Letīs take a look at these two options a little closer, it is easier for you to decide which option is the right one for you.
Free web hosting:
Choosing free web hosting can sound like a great deal, but there are some limitations that you should be aware of.If you have to choose free hosting, choose a company that has been around for at least a few years.Yahoo and Bravenet offer one of the best free web hosting packages at the moment. Do some research on forums and websites to find a suitable company for you.
Depending on the hosting company, advertising banners will be placed on your website. You will not have your own domain name and the web space is limited, usually between 50 – 100Mb.There will also be limited bandwidth, If you get lots of traffic to your website, at some point your visitors will not be able to access your website because you have used all your bandwidth for the month.
If you are running a business, this can cost you lots of money in lost sales and look very unprofessional when your website is down and instead there is a message saying “all bandwidth used”. You will probably not have ftp access, no email and no support when you run into problems. With free web hosting you will just get a place to store your website and nothing more. This is not for business use.
Paid web hosting:
If you are a small business owner, you simply cannot afford to have free hosting. For a small monthly fee you will get a hosting account that has plenty of space, bandwidth, your own domain name, ftp access, email account, real time visitor statistics, 24-hour phone or email support, design tools, mysql and more.
Choosing the wrong company will cause you lots of trouble and cost you lots in lost sales when your website is down most of the time. This is one reason why people switch hosts.Obviously, if your website is down most of the time your income suffers.
As a business owner you must be sure that the web hosting company is reliable and the down time is as low as possible. This is one of the most important criterion when choosing a web hosting company. As always, before signing up make sure you do some research to find a company that is suitable for you.
Many online marketers have chosen a webhosting company called Hostgator. It is cheap (only $9.95 per month) you can host as many websites on your account as you want, the up-time is close to 100%, the customer support is excellent.
You must have webhosting is you are serious about marketing online, and the best and most affordable option is Hostgator.

Indeed an honest opinion for new webmasters, there is no free lunch under the sun and it is important to understand what you are giving away in order to receive a free offer, whether it is worth giving that out is up to individuals.
I prefer paid webhosting. You can find some webhosting packages with 1$/month and you have full access over it. If you have a free webhsoting you do not have any control, you can find your site deleted or you will find some ads on your site
