I hate all these mail with stupid names of senders, There are only few of companys, which advertise their products properly. Email marketing is something more, that just sending email. I think everyone engaged in such activitty should read this post
I feel the same about funny names in blog post comments. It is strange behaviour to incrementally influence on PR and leave the human out of the equation. I would imagine it to bring more benefit if one would use the situation to market and build real rapport.
