The easiest way to build a list is to place a signup form somewhere on the website or blog and let people subscribe to a newsletter. There is a free tool, Double Opt-In Manager plugin, which can automate the subscription process and that I use on my blog. It allows placing an opt-in form on the blog. People will subscribe using a double opt-in method. The plugin will automatically send a confirmation email to new subscribers and after they confirm their subscription, the plugin will send a welcome message to them. The subscribers will be saved to the WP database and can be easily exported to a file then. What is nice is that this tool is completely free and can be user for multiple sites.
