Blog Commenting Policy

by Tom on November 21, 2009

I think every blogger loves to receive comments on something they have written, feedback is nice and interacting with my visitors is why I have a blog in the first place. People are different, people think differently, so the comments are also going to be different.Nothing wrong with that.

A blog is interactive and I want it to stay that way for as long as I run the blog (a very, very long time), therefore I have some simple rules when it comes to commenting on this blog.

# 1. Comments are welcome!
Comments on a blog are as important as the content I write myself or guest posters write.Comments add perspective, knowledge and useful information that every reader of this blog may find useful. No matter if you are a professional blogger or have just started your online career, please leave a comment!

# 2. Spam will be deleted!
I will not tolerate spam on my blog.I have plugins in place that automatically detect spam and delete it.I manually approve all comments because of spam and therefore it may take some time before your comment is approved.

# 3. Add a relevant link in your comment!
If you leave a comment on my blog and want to refer to another blog that has more information about the topic, please feel free to do so.

# 4. I will delete irrelevant links!
If you comment and leave a link to a site that has nothing to do with the blog post you are commenting on, your comment will most likely be deleted. Spammy comments are really bad for anyone´s reputation online.

# 5. Use your real first name when commenting!
I like to reply to comments and want to know who I am replying to.You are allowed to add a keyword after your name. (i.e Tom @ marketing tips) You will get a keyword rich link back thanks to the Keywordluv plugin that is installed.

Great Post.

I think comments are really great for every blogger. Its always fun to get comments, however you need to keep spam under control. I currently recieve around 50 spam comments a day and delete it straight away.

I tried to make a thoughtful comment but kept getting an error saying my comments were too spammy. So, this is my third try.

In today’s business world, if you are flat you are decreasing; if you are standing still you are moving backwards. This doesn’t mean action for action’s sake but it means thinking ahead, leaning towards the future and trusting your customers to be your guides. They are, after all, the market and your future.
