One of the worst things about internet marketing is all the myths and hype involved.
If someone wants to sell a product or service, they may invent a phony story to convince people their product or service is the best one.
Below are some myths and hypes that you should avoid so that you can effectively market your business online.
Websites Make Money – Some people will tell you that you must have a website to market your business. This is not true. Plenty of marketers are out there selling their products and services without websites and you do not need one either.
Article Writing – Some people will tell you that writing articles will not do you any good because of the penalty for duplicate content. If you write articles, don’t let this concern you. Let the publisher of the article be the one concerned. Articles are a good way to market your business. With articles, you offer the reader value and tell them how you can solve a problem they have. Writing articles can raise rankings with search engines and have others see you as an expert. This is a good way to target traffic.
Email Addresses – Another myth is that if you send your offer to millions of email addresses, you will have a lot of sales. This is nothing but SPAM. If you find someone offering thousands of email addresses for a small amount of money, do not fall for it. Most of these email addresses get collected from the internet, and the people at those email addresses probably have no interest in what you have to offer. Build your own list of email addresses, and build a relationship with your own readers. Target your own market and do not worry about everyone else.
Free Marketing Techniques – If someone tells you that free internet marketing techniques will not cost you a thing, they are wrong. Free traffic techniques are a great thing to take advantage of, but most are not really free. Even if they are free, they will cost you a lot of time. Regardless of whether you are spending money or your time on marketing, your time is very valuable. You need to spend your time on techniques that make you some money and are effective for you.
Black Hat Techniques – Some say that you cannot get a good ranking on search engines unless you take advantage of black hat techniques. If someone guarantees you a top 10 ranking for buying their service for search engine optimization, run again. Nothing is guaranteed in life except for taxes and death. You can use your own legitimate techniques to get your own good rankings with search engines. Techniques such as linking, writing articles and using search engine optimization on single website pages works well.
Internet marketing offers a way for everyone to make money regardless of how experienced you are. It all depends on how serious you are and how much you want to make money. You can only be successful with your internet marketing business by avoiding potential problems. Pay attention to all the myths and hypes out there and avoid them at all costs.

Hi Tom,
I am glad that you have written such an invaluable and insightful post about these myths and hypes that many newbie internet marketers fall victim to very often.
I especially like the first one “Websites Make Money” because it’s very true that you do not have to have a website to make money online as you’ve said.
Now, for those who cannot at first understand how it is really possible to make money online without having a website, I am glad to now be able to share my latest success story where I have managed to make my first $100 online simply thanks to posting a piece of content on a forum.
And, the way I’ve made those first $100 online after 7 long years of my struggles and failures to make any money online is that I have simply written something that I am truly passionate about and that I 100% believe could help somebody solve a certain problem. At the end of my forum post, I have simply left my Skype ID where anybody who’s interested in benefiting from my ‘service’ could directly connect with me and contact me. Please, notice that I’ve put the quotation marks on the word ‘service’ because I just want to let you know that I didn’t even have an official business either.
To sum up, there are 3 key ingredients to your success at making money online without having a website and even an established business:
1) Writing something that you’re truly passionate about and posting it somewhere online for free (don’t forget to include your contact details at the end of your post)
2) Writing about something that you 100% believe can help somebody solve a certain problem
3) Being your true self or sharing your true personality traits throughout your content as if you are chatting with your best friend at a coffee bar, for example.
Speaking of the importance of always being yourself when trying to spread a word on something or promote something in order to sell it, I suggest that you also try to tell a story that’s normally a story from failure to success that could be from your own experience or somebody else’s experience.

I absolutely agree with this sentence ” If someone tells you that free internet marketing techniques will not cost you a thing, they are wrong.” because it forks out your time, effort and patience. These factors are your tickets to becoming a successful marketer.
