Autoresponders And Shopping Cart Integration

by Tom on January 24, 2009

When you make a sale from your website, it is always a good idea to contact the customer to say “Thank You For Your Purchase”.By acknowledging the purchase, you show your appreciation and this shows your customer that you are a professional. You can automate the process of acknowledging the purchase by having an autoresponder integrated with your shopping cart. Many shopping carts available today have their own auto responders built into the system.Having an autoresponder message going out to everyone who buys from you is also a good opportunity for you to tell them about other products that you may have.

The “Thank You For Your Purchase” autoresponder message should not be on the same autoresponder as the customers email receipt of the purchase.By sending them out separately allows the customer to focus on the message and is more likely to read the information about your other products.

What should you say in your “Thank You For Your Purchase” message? First of all, you thank them of their purchase and tell them how their new product will help them. You should also include information about your other products that would work well with the one they just purchased and offer a discount if they buy withing 24 hours. At the end of the message write your name, your email address and the URL of your website. As a P.S, let them know that they can contact you anytime they need assistance.

Your “Thank You For Your Purchase” autoresponder message serves as a second chance to sell something.Itīs like being in a “brick and mortar” store when you go to the counter to pay, there are more items for sale. These items are meant to be picked up as last minute purchases, or impulsive purchases.

Be careful not to bombard your customer with offers every day.Instead, send them an email periodically to let them know what is happening and offer them “special deals” so they will remember you.Make sure your autoresponder is setup to handle automatic removal requests and that the information you send them is closely related to the product they purchased.

If they are happy with the product and customer service they received last time, they are likely to buy again and also tell their friends and family about it.
