Blogging is an interactive thing, you are sharing information and allow your visitors to comment and share their opinion on what you have written.Not only is it polite to reply to blog comments but your readers who have taken the time to write a meaningful comment will appreciate it and will visit your blog in the future as well which means you will get repeat traffic to your blog.
By replying to blog comments you are showing your visitors that you really care and know what is happening on your blog.This is great for marketing because you are building a brand for your self.
(I recently read an interesting post by Mitch from Imjustsharing.com called “Are you sometimes feeling ignored” where he talks about how he feels ignored when the blog owner does not reply to any comments.This is an excellent post, I highly recommend reading it.)

Mitch recently felt I was ignoring him when I became busy and didn’t reply to a comment he left on my blog. It wasn’t done intentionally. I’m normally pretty good at replying to comments. I mean, I try to do my best to keep up with any comment I get on my posts.
For those who receive a lot of comments it must be very difficult to keep up. I know I sometimes have a hard time.
