I bet everyone who has been marketing online for some time has heard of traffic exchanges. There are lots of different traffic exchanges out there (both manual and automatic) and many people claim they are an effective way to get traffic to a website or building an email list.
I have also tried traffic exchanges and used them in the beginning of my marketing career when I had a normal website.I never really understood how to use them and clicking for hours and seeing the same affiliate pages over and over again to get credits was nothing I wanted to do.
Personally, I would never visit a traffic exchange to look for anything to buy and why would someone sign up for my affiliate program when there are hundreds of identical affiliate sites on the exchanges?

Traffic exchanges are something that I have heard from time to time, but never really looked into. I don’t think they would ever be an effective marketing tool, and time would be better off spent elsewhere.
Thanks for sharing those blog posts. I think Traffic exchange are only good and effective on a short-term period. It is still important to have great contents to continuously attract visitors and not just rely on traffic exchange alone.
I think traffic exchanges are mostly useless. They’re only effective if you’re trying to inflate your visitor stats, but otherwise it’s not usually high quality traffic.
Hi Mike, thanks for commenting.I agree, there are many more effective ways to get traffic to a website than traffic exchanges.
Traffic exchange programs are not very effective because they are very easy to trick.
I think traffic exchanges have their place in marketing. It all depends on how and what you use them for, and the ones you use. Some are good and some are real bad and a total waste of time surfing them.

Traffic exchanges are a great way to build lists. Many people do not use them properly or join exchanges that are poorly run and therefore have a really bad image of exchanges. You should use your traffic exchange wisely, use splash pages as a strategy to increase your mailing list size and then use the list to create sales.
I think traffic exchange is good when done correctly, but linking directly between two sites can easily raise a flag. Always exchange with someome that’s willing to place your link on a page that you aren’t pointing their link to.
So, if done correctly, it can be a great tool.
