Why is it so important with search engine optimization (SEO) if you have a website? It is important because over 95% of all online users use search engines (mostly Google) to find what they are looking for.It may be information about products or services, music, videos or just information.

Here is 5 useful [Tag-Tec]Search engine optimization tips[/Tag-Tec] that will help you reach your audience on the internet if you have your own website.

1.Write high quality content often!
The most important factor to get people to your website is to have the kind of information they are looking for.Search engines crawl websites and index them based on the content that is found on each page of the website.Just by writing good content, you have the possibility to get a high ranking in the search engines and get more traffic to your website when people search for information containing your keywords.

2.Check your stats!
You need to analyze your website statistics to see what keywords people use to land on your website. The more content you have, the more accurate will the stats be as well. There are many free statistics tools you can use, one to mention is Google Analytics (google.com/analytics).It provides information on visitors (what browser they use, from where they are from, how long they stayed on your website…), traffic sources (where did they come from, most visited pages on your website), your content (what content was most read, how many times…) plus dozens more. With all this information it is a lot easier for you to write the kind of content people are looking for.

3.Look out for submission services!
There are many search engine submission services out there promising to submit your URL to 20,000+ search engines. There is no need for this, because 99% of people use Google, Bing And Yahoo. Also, all it takes to get your website indexed is to make a blog comment on a highly visited blog. This will often be enough to get your website indexed within 48 hours. This means there is no need to manually submit your URL to the search engines either.

4.Play by the rules!
If you try to trick the search engines, you will have no chance of becoming successful.Forget about keyword stuffing, link farms and everything else “black hat”.Sure, you might get a high ranking for some time but you will get caught at some point.Your website might not disappear from the search engines but is it any better to rank #7927 for your keywords? People are only looking at the top 20 results.

5.There is help available!
If you have no idea of how to do search engine optimization on your website, or don´t want to learn about it, there are a few great tools you can use.Using SEO tools to analyze your website will cost money, but as a result you will know for sure exactly what you need to do to improve your website and what keywords you will rank for in the search engines.

I did some research and found a free proven tool that will help you get top 10 ranking on Google, Yahoo and Bing.

I am especially impressed by the last recommendation, and that is, play by the rules.

I see so many SEO consultants who are recommending doing everything but that.

They pirate content, do hubs, mirror sites, and everything else that will supposedly result in instant web site gratification.

I just wonder what would happen if they took all that knowledge and energy and just did the right thing. What kind of family would teach a child first and foremost to try to cheat any system they approach?

Anyway, great information here.

I will definitely follow your advice.

SEO is not for people looking for short cuts or ‘easy’ way out to greater success. SEO is the essential must have if one wants their site visible out there.
Good tips (rather they are guidelines) for people mostly unaware on SEO and its ‘qualities’.

The number one thing that has helped my new blog (6 months old) has been to write quality content, and use SEO tools and plugins from WP. Thanks for the tips.
