Blog directories are places where you can list your blog.By listing your blog in directories you will get people to see your blog who otherwise never would have found you.There are many blog directories available, so you can place your blog in all directories that are in your niche.
There are a few things you need to know before submitting your blog to blog directories.First of all, your blog must be ready for viewing.It has to have good content to get new readers.No one likes poor stories and marketing pitches.You are an expert in your niche, so choose your blog content carefully.
Before submitting your blog to a blog directory, go through your content, evaluate what keywords to use so you can properly categorize your blog and add the right keywords when the blog directory asks for it.
These are the blog directories you should submit your blog to first.
1.MyblogLog (http://www.mybloglog.com) is a blogging community with 150,000+ members.MyblogLog is based on the interaction between users, and a widget that can be installed on your blog that shows who has visited your blog recently.It is free to sign up for an account and you can establish your own blog community for blogs that you author.
2.Blog Catalog (http://www.blogcatalog.com) allows you to not only place your blog into a category. It also shows which categories are the most popular, so that you can be better guided as to what market has the biggest readers. Through blog catalog, you can join discussions and form or join groups.
3.Blog Hints (http://www.bloghints.com) allows you to view the most popular blogs, the latest blogs added and the highest rated blog as well.There are many different blogs in this directory that you can search through. The blogs are also arranged in folders that are readily visible on the front page of the site.

I have always been a bit skeptical about blog directories and how much effect the links really have. Blog catalog, blog log and technorati are the ones I made sure I got in. Oh, and fuelmyblog, a UK directory
The backlinks from blog directories should be combined with the backlinks from the articles submitted to article directories (on topics closely related to your blog’s most important keywords).
A properly developed backlink program will deliver far more targeted traffic to your blog due to its impact on the search engines than due to the actual directory links themselves.

I update this list weekly there are now 506 entries listed .
Try to submit to 3-5 directories PER DAY. This discipline will pay big dividends over the long run.
