Marketing is too important to be ignored. They provide revenue to sustain businesses on a long term basis. Businesses often use a mix of strategies to market products. The most notable are door-to-door selling, in-store selling and finally, online store selling.
Online selling has advantages, but they are not without their tales of woes. To sell products online, you first need to have a friendly easily navigable website, and next a dedicated team to ensure that they get promoted on the Internet.
The Seasoned Marketer’s Strategies
Seasoned marketers are discovering that blogs are great places to wean customers to their online stores, and even consider them to be more effective than even a great page rank. It is easier said than done to use blogs for marketing products. Blogs are like any other marketing endeavor, and have its own set of nuances to be effective, notably when using blogging to sell products to your followers.
The advantage of using blogs to market products to followers is you know them and you may even have some idea about their likes, dislikes and needs. You can prepare them mentally before you take them to your online store, and cajole them into doing something you want them to. In short, blog is a place where you create interest for your products, albeit even as you pretend not to be interested in selling. It is a very tricky situation if you are new to using blogging for selling products.
Knowing how to market your product is essential in helping your business grow. Learning more about the different areas of business is an option many owners take by completing business courses online. Click here to find out more.
Here are some blogging tips you can give a try.
Keep to Truth, They are Bitter but Effective
Most bloggers trying to market products online commit one or both of these two mistakes – hiding facts or blatantly misleading through cloaking words cleverly. Don’t entangle yourself with either of them. You may get some instant gratification by way of couple sales, but in the long run it will kill your brand’s image. Remember the saying “You cannot fool all the people all the time?” This very much applies to blogging as well.
Give all information that you think is important for your readers – even those that you perceive as inconvenient to you. When you speak in an honest tone, your followers begin to trust you, and trust, believe, is what makes brands great.
Apologize if You Have To…Don’t Persist with Weak Defense
Once in a while things do go wrong when blogging. You or one of your content producers was dishonest or simply lazy and you blogged on that basis and someone caught you. If you have a defense, put it across to your followers and make him understand your situation. If not, don’t hesitate to apologize. Readers are bright enough to understand difficult situations that bloggers face. When you apologize instead of put forward a weak argument, you are actually building your brand’s image.
Encouraging your followers and involving them in lively discussions actually give your blogs free publicity that money can’t buy. Why let go something that you get free?
Respect Your Competition and Competitors
You can never build a brand image by demeaning another. By demeaning you are also unwittingly sending out a message that you don’t have unique selling point. But unique selling points are a basic necessity to score over your competitors, without them you not stand out of the crowd. Every product is unique and you cannot deny it, but you need to search for them and put it across to your followers in a way they understand.
If your unique selling point is great service, price or quality, build your story around those points. As for comparing, your followers will do it for themselves. By thrashing your competitors you might unwittingly make your followers suspect your products for the same reason. Why create a controversy around your product whey you can actually convey something positive about your products and brands?
Be receptive to Changes and New Ideas
The only constant in the world is change. If you are selling something that people have long forgotten, then you are doing yourself a disservice. However, hard you may try to use your blog for resurrecting, you will fail miserable. Talk more about newer products and newer uses in your blogs. Keep your values intact, like providing great information, your views and your beliefs, but you must do away with obsolescence at any cost.
Persisting or trying to revive something in which people and followers have lost interest will not only drain your energy but will also drive away your followers for good. Therefore make it a point to give information on latest products and services in your blogs, and don’t forget to tell your readers how they can benefit.
Make Followers Follow in Your Footsteps
In spite of the vast expanse of the Internet, word of mouth is what brings in sales. The best way to spread word of mouth is to use social media. Actively participate in social media like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn for engaging your prospective customers. Start dialogues with as many as you can, get them interested by talking about the benefits inherent to your product genre and take them to your blog to prepare their mindset.

Great tips Jem. Honesty is always the best policy. I once carried a product on a retail site and learned that the shoes were awful, after 2 complaints we took them off. And we buy a pair of a brand before we sell them. Good thing I love wearings clogs!
We sometimes forget about the benefits when writing product descriptions, great reminder!

Hi Lisa! Thanks for commenting. Jem wrote a good post, there is so much to learn.
Tips are good to see and they will really work if they take seriously in this way. For marketing your products these can be really handy.
Its nice to read something meaningful that you know that you can follow if you put all your heart on it. Tip#2 is far the best, If we remain truthful to our aim and we are not just after for promoting but rather we put priorities to our readers it will drive us closer to our followers and will start building mutual trust.
