Do You Need A University Marketing Degree For Affiliate Marketing?

Is affiliate marketing so hard to learn to do correctly that it takes a university degree in marketing to do it?  One could think so because 95% fail in affiliate marketing, but in reality it is quite simple if you can follow a few simple rules.

1.You need your own website:
With every affiliate product you sell online you will get some marketing material to help you promote the product or service, often it is a sales page, some banners, links and ready written emails. However, this marketing material is made just as a reference and help. You cannot use it directly, because thousands of other people are using the exact same material. Why would someone buy from you and not the other guy? By having your own website, you can be unique and stand out from the crowd and offer something the competition cannot offer – Your expertise of the product!

To become an expert of the product you must write a comprehensive review with all the benefits and downsides of it.You must also include the downsides because no product is perfect. To be able to write an excellent review, you need to buy the product your self and test it.When people visit your site and read the review they are more likely to buy the product, because the more they know the better. They will see you as an expert, and this builds trust.Besides, writing a review about the product gets you valuable content for your site and this is exactly what search engines are looking for.Remember to place the URL for the sales page at the end of the review so your visitors can learn more about the product.

Continue writing other related content for your site regularly, this makes it go up in the search rankings and you will get more potential buyers to your site.Having lots of banners on your website makes the site look cheap and cluttered.Besides, people know that banners are advertising and they try to avoid it at all cost. Would you go to a site to look for advertising?

2.You must choose the correct products:
Is it better to choose twenty different products that you sell or choose just a few excellent ever-green products that never goes “out of fashion” and you can sell for years to come? When it comes to marketing affiliate products I think less is more.If you start selling every “fly-by-night” affiliate product ever invented you will probably fail because the more you give options to your website visitors, the smaller is the likely hood that they will buy anything at all. This is a typical mistake people often do.

3.Build a list:
When you have your website up and running, offer a free newsletter.Building a list gives you another opportunity to market your products and services. If you offer a newsletter with valuable tips, tools and strategies people are willing to give you their email address to get more information and updates from you. This is a fantastic way to get repeat traffic to your site.Remember not to tell too much in the email, just enough to raise curiosity.
