Should You Pay For Website Traffic Or Not?

November 27, 2008 by Tom · 6 Comments

Is it a smart move to pay for website traffic, or should you rely on traffic that comes from your own advertising efforts over time?

Every business needs customers, without them you would not have anyone to sell your products or services to.In the internet world traffic is the walk in customer. The more traffic you have the more people you would be able to sell your products to.

If you are looking to get quick results with minimal effort on your part, probably the best way to achieve this would be to use PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising. However, the problem with this strategy is that once you stop paying for clicks, your traffic also stops.

If you are not paying for traffic with money, you are going to pay for it with time you put into advertising your site. The best way for free traffic is to use articles. This is clearly a long term strategy that produces results over time.

The question is: Are you paying for your traffic to get quick results, or do you use free advertising methods that generate long term results? Leave a comment.

  1. In my experience most pay per click campaigns cost almost the same exact amount as your revenue increases. Basically you wind up working for the advertising firm.

I suppose it depends if you use your site for selling, promotion, marketing or just portfolio. I prefer to market myself rather than pay for traffic. This suits what I’m doing but of course, I subscribe for free to Blog Catalog and a couple of others.

On another tack, Adsense is fantastic. However, I can’t use it on my site as the stuff I write about is often critical of many of the companies likely to advertise … such as fee-paying debt counsellors, etc.

All the best from the UK and thanks for a great site.

I would say, paying for traffic is not worth while, but i would reckon paying for buy links would benfit you, because it can help you to get a good page rank and later on generate you good amount of traffic on search engines.

If you write wonderful articles, which hook up your reader for good, well then, why not invest into traffic as it is going to grow your readership. These readers in turn will spread the message and soon there are so many readers that they have to take turns to read your website.

Well paying for web traffic is good if you want quick results. Be smart about it too and you can build your SEO and that is where free traffic kicks in and that is where you can make the most money. SEO means you making money for time being put in not paid traffic, a lot safer and a lot more fun. Dont get me wrong though it does take a while to build up your SEO to where you are generating a good amount of money,
