7 Ways To Get People To Link To Your Web Site

November 5, 2008 by Tom Lindstrom

Getting links back to your site is very important, the more back links you have from related sites to your own the better ranking you will have in the search engines, from where a big percent of the traffic comes.

But, how to get people to link to your web site? Try these easy tips.

1.When you visit a web site or blog you like a lot, write a positive review about the site. You could write about the benefits you gain from the site, how it helps you and so on.Tell the website owner that they can publish it on their site if they link back to your site.

2.Start a “members only” resource from your website. For instance, it can be a resource where you offer one-on-one help and assistance marketing a home business online.Tell people what the resource contains and what it costs to gain access.
Offer a free membership in exchange of a link back to your site.

3.Consulting fees can be very expensive.Do you know a lot of a particular subject? You could offer free email consulting in exchange for a link back to your site.

4.Exchange content with other sites.Trade articles, reviews, e-zine ads, print ads, autoresponder ads, classified ads, ebook ads, etc.. Both parties could include a resource box at the end of the content.

5.Write an ebook and offer it for free to your website visitors. It´s important that the ebook is related to your target audience. If you are an internet marketer, offer something related to that. Allow people to give the ebook to their own visitors,by linking directly to your website.

6.When you purchase a product, write a detailed testimonial about why you like the product and how it has helped you.Give them permission to publish it on their web site if they link back to your site.

7.Put an online service or utilities on your site and allow people to use them for free, in exchange for a link back to your website. The online service could be copy writing, proof reading etc.

Good tips Tom. Another way I could think of is sponsor blog contests targeting bigger ones with more traffic. When people take part and write about the contest, your blog gets a mention and a linkback.
BTW thanks for the mention and linkback too.

Hi Peter, thanks for commenting.Good point, I have also recently added a page called “guest posting” where people can submit their post to my blog. They get links back to their sites and I get fresh content. That´s also a way to get more involved and get noticed.
