Is Writing Quality Content Enough To Run A Successful Blog?

August 29, 2008 by Tom Lindstrom

The wonderful thing about running a blog is that it is loosely based and extremely casual. You have the ability to be far more conversational than professional with those who are posting with you.But at the same time, this does not mean you can slack off and present poor content.

Much like running a web site, you must be able to present quality content in order to have a successful blog.Simply having a blog full of content is not going to get the job done.People can go anywhere to read junk or monotonous content that has been created on hundreds of other web sites.

What keeps a blog going is the traffic it receives and the posts these visitors make. Therefore, it is up to you to generate the traffic and then keep them at your blog. While the content you produce does not necessarily get people to your blog, it will certainly keep them there.

It is up to you to present a topic that has not been touched on that much or is fresh in the news. This entails you researching in forums and on the news for hot topics and anything related to your niche. From there, make a beginning post to get the conversation rolling.

The great thing about a blog is that you can then sit back and read what others have to say.You do not have to sit there and respond to every single person’s posts. But it is important you jump in and state your opinion from time to time to keep people interested.

The more insightful your comments are the better chance you have of running a successful blog.It is true that a blog can be more conversational and less formal. But at the same time you want to make sure you sound like you know what you are talking about. You cannot get away with making pointless comments just to
make a post.

The last thing you have to keep in mind when writing quality content is consistency.Making a post once
a week is not going to keep a blog up and running. People will lose interest and move on to a different web site or blog. You have to be committed to your blog and make a post at least once or twice a day. Only then will you be able to run a successful blog.

If you could cut your daily blog posting time in half with one piece of software, get your life back and have more time to market your site, would you be interested?

The content I write for my blog is slightly different from the content I write for article directories. I like to write a more conversational style of content for my blog and a more “how to” style of content for article directories. Its always a good idea to test different styles out to see which works best for your particular niche. Simon

I agree. There is no point in posting the same content on your blog and on article directories.

The problem is, you don’t know how good your content is until you get traffic. If they come back, the content is good. If they don’t, well, it might be the content, could be your site design …

Quality content and plenty of backlinks equals success every time. Takes a long time but the key is to be dedicated and stick at it.

Blogging is something beyond our mind barriers. I have read thousand posts on content and majority of bloggers suggest to write twice a week. I think they are doing it just for optimization. It is far better to have 1 blog instead of 10 and if we could write once or twice a day. I am totally agreed with your concept of blogging.
