Online businesses use SEO, also called search engine optimization, as a way to increase their possibility of being in the top 10 rankings on different search engines. The higher ranking you have on a search engine, the better is your chances to make a sale.

You need to have a high ranking because the search engine users, consumers, often look only at the first 20 search results. If you are on page 89 of the search engine and have a ranking of 7328 or similar for your best and most relevant keywords, no one will ever find your website in the search, and you will not make any money.

For best results, optimize your web pages for the search engines by adding phrases and keywords to them and create back links so potential customers will be able to find your web site even if they don“t use a search engine.A very effective way to create back links to your website is to write articles related to your niche and submit the articles to article directories.

Search engines rank websites with the help of “web spiders”.These spiders search each website and sites connected to this website and creates a rank. While this occurs very quickly, search engines actually check millions of pages checking for sites that are frequently mentioned online. Adding keywords and phrases and adding back links on other websites are easy ways to increase your web presence.

The more links you have pointing back at your website, the more traffic you will have and the more money you will make.Affiliate marketers know this to be very true.

Most of the people who are looking for information online use search engines to find what they are looking for, and they type in keywords and phrases to find it.So, when you have created your website I recommend using a service that lists the most popular keywords and phrases in your niche of business. You will have a much better idea of what keywords people use when they are looking for goods and services similar to the ones on your website.

Each page within your site should include keywords in the content, Meta tags, and in the heading of your page. Choosing keywords is not an exact science. Since you cannot read the minds of those using search engines, you will need to choose words and phrases that are common. Search engines have free tools you can use to determine which words are the most popular for your website.

You will have to update keywords each month since the popularity will chance and words will no longer be used as much as they used to. Update your web pages when adding new content or sections of your website. This will help increase the number of hits you receive. Track your hits to see where they are coming from so you can have a better understanding of which words work the best.

Search engine optimization is not as difficult as it may seem. Start by adding keywords and phrases in order to begin using SEO. Add back links whenever possible so you will gain more exposure on the web. Track where all of your traffic is coming from so you can market in areas that generate the most traffic.
