Are Alexa Rankings Reliable?

Alexa.com is a web information company that measures traffic rankings for websites.

Many online home business owners measure their ranking with Alexa, but some people say that Alexa rankings are not reliable and accurate,and should only be seen as a guideline of how well your website is performing, estimating the real traffic and overall ranking on the internet.

  1. I guess until we don’t have a reliable metrics in place we will have to somehow trust Alexa rankings. Atleast there is way through which we can measure the performance of various websites around the world.

  2. They aren’t that reliable. But that can be used to your advantage, if you like, since a lot of ad companies base prices for ads on the number. I can just tell you that I rank pretty high with Alexa now for two sites and neither of the numbers are right, unless a lot of people at the same Alexa level are lying about their page views.
